nisaa: (no wheat)
([personal profile] nisaa Jun. 7th, 2006 10:02 pm)

I can’t eat the Pocky that are on top of my fridge. I also can’t eat the Good Vita digestive “oat” crackers which really only contain wheat.

But I can eat the mochi and the bean jelly candies I got in Chinatown. Oh, and Luna bars and Odwalla bars appear to be wheat-free.

I took the Ezekiel sprouted grain tortillas out of the freezer last night. They're very very good. And, joy of joys, my favorite tortillas are the Spelt ones from Trader Joe’s.

I remembered that I can get my favorite wheat-free waffles from the regular grocery store – not just Trader Joe’s or a health food store, so I picked some up last night. I know where to look, I just have to be more strict about it.

I expect that this is going to be more difficult when I'm premenstrual and craving pepperoni pizza. I can't walk into my favorite pizza place and get a wheat-free slice. But for now, it's ok.

My stomach – still happy with me. No owies after meals or bloating, or anything else that comes after that’s TMI for the general public. I’m going to have to be careful I don’t eat too many salads though to replace the wheat, because raw foods are not good for my Spleen. My skin – too soon to tell, I think. I may just be imagining that the redness has gone down. And, I’m still taking my Chinese herbs and topical Salycilic acid medicine.

This article basically describes my life almost to a T, right down to the Accutane:

Aubrey is sensative to wheat. What works for her seems to be as little wheat as possible.

If she's not had any wheat in a while, having a meal or two with wheat seems to not bother her. It acts fairly collective. If she has wheat a few days in a row it starts to add up. Plus when she's taken off a long spell of it, it takes a while (maybe 2 weeks) of being wheat free for her to be symptom free. In other words, I bet if you're really wheat freeing regularly a slice o' pizza is probably not going to slam you - but I could be wrong.

All that being said LOL or - what I started this to say is that whole foods does have wheat free frozen pizza's. Yeah, yeah, it doesn't taste quite the same, but it's not too bad really!

Thanks for the pizza advice. I rarely go to whole foods (because it's so expensive around here) but I will check it out so I'm ready if I get a pizza craving.

I'm not completly wheat free, I'm on more of a wheat reduced diet. My acupunctureist suggested that I make a stewed rice and veggie dish to calm my tummy. I cook rice and peas (or fresh corn) down to a mush which is easy to digest. It's very yummy :o) I think she called it Kangee (or something that sounds like that)

It's called Congee. I love that for breakfast - I had it in Taiwan last year at the hotel with different things to add in. My tummy loves it!
