nisaa: (no wheat)
([personal profile] nisaa Sep. 15th, 2007 01:49 pm)
Trader Joe's is making little bags of gluten-free granola. I bought one and a box of corn flakes (NOT gluten-free) to extend it. It's quite tasty. But the corn flakes in the granola don't really make up for the crunchy oat bits in regular granola.

I bought mostly everything gluten-free on our TJ's run. I'm going to see if I feel significantly better than just wheat-free. Just an experiment. Why not? The hard part's avoiding wheat. And I'm loving quinoa instead of oatmeal in the AM.

I was given a half dozen or so of their chocolate chip cookies last week. I can't tell the difference between chocolate chip cookies with wheat and these. OMG good. Apparently they're in located in Seattle.

I'm really curious about the Gluten-Free granola. I will have to check it out next time I am there.

My hubbins splurged last time he was at the big GF providers and bought me a box of certified gluten free oats. I never thought oats could be thought of specialty foods and set up on a pedestal with a shiny light delicately wafting about it complete with an angelic choir.

^_^

Good luck on your experiment!

Introducing myself...

Hey there. You don't know me from Adam, but I consider [livejournal.com profile] joedecker a good friend, and he's been talking about you for a while, so I thought it time to, well, get to know you. I won't ask, "So, young lady, what are your intentions?" or anything of the sort, but rather, from what Joe has told me, you seem like a cool and interesting person to get to know.

So, I've added you to my friends' list, but do tell me if you'd rather I hadn't. I'm Lisa, I live in Louisiana right now, and I have considerable disagreements with Joe on the status of the Axiom of Choice, but other than that, we agree on pretty much everything else. I write (when I remember to make room for it), teach philosophy, and am working toward my Ph.D., with a thesis on a certain area of the philosophy of mathematics. I've got three kids who are growing up and moving out.

Also, I'm an amateur baker (baking is my hobby), so, to add something relevant to this particular post, if you'd like to try baking your own wheat free and/or gluten free bread and treats, I could see what I could do to help. I'm a wheat whore, so I usually throw all purpose unbleached flour into *everything*, but I do know a few non-wheaty tricks.

Hi! I'm adding you to my flist because I've been LJ friends with [livejournal.com profile] joedecker and [livejournal.com profile] mactavish forever.

[livejournal.com profile] yesthatjill has tons of gluten-free recipes. I'm not gluten-free, but all of her recipes that I've tried have been fantastic.
