Here's one thing I like about my neighborhood. I was walking the dog home from the post office this morning when I saw a sign posted in the window of the chichi furniture store across the street. I stopped to read that an employee from the cafe down the street lost his home and some of his family members in a fire recently. The sign asked for contributions to be dropped off at Cafe Collage. So, I went to the cafe and handed one of the waitresses a fiver. She thanked me very much and off I went.
Community. That's something we have in Venice. It's something that we won't let chains like Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf take away from us. People smile at you and say hi when you walk down the street - not always, but often enough. I want to always live in a place like this, even if I don't always live in Venice, CA.

You don't get that here. At least, not that I've found.

Do you know Ajax? He's my hubby and he's wondering if he might know you through Conrad since you live in Vegas.
