S and I were walking home from Mao's Kitchen where he left our favorite waitress a 50% tip to make up for the dweebs next to us who were about to stiff her. We passed by an open doorway with a guy pacing in and out of it. He invites us in to watch the bottom of the 9th in the Yankees - Red Sox game. He even offers us a beer to split (we live in Venice, everyone's broke), which we decline since I'm sick and S doesn't drink.

We watch the last few minutes of - what even I understand to be - a moment in baseball history. We have met a neighbor, a baseball fan in a tie-dyed t-shirt who was born and raised in Boston - whooping and hollering to the baseball game on a rainy Wednesday night.

I <3 Venice.

And now, I'm off to study some more.

you've got to love a good underdog. i'm so happy for the fans who've been literally waiting their whole lives for a red sox win!!!

i lived in boston for a summer near fenway park. now i kind of wish i had seen a game just once.
