Some of you may have seen the dashboard of our car. Before we left Boston to move across country, we started collecting "dashboard friends" to join us on the way. Usually, they were some kind of doll, about 3-4 inches high. We collected quite a few on the trip out here.

The collection is growing and growing. But now, there are too many MALE figures, thanks to a yankee swap at Xmas where S got 5 Masters of the Universe figures. I need to add some plastic estrogen to the mix.

I went to Toys R Us with [livejournal.com profile] butterflies79 over the weekend with the aim of finding a Hermione doll from Harry Potter. The ones they had were way too big. I ended up getting a kickass Valkyrie doll from Spawn and Harlequinn from Batman. But the pickings were slim. I need more females.

If you have any suggestions on where to look for more of these, let me know. Either somewhere near Venice or on the internet. The goal is to spend less than $10 for each one.
Thanks!

We should go through Em's toybox for you - I imagine we must have SOMETHING in there that will be appropriate.

Omigod! That's great. I think quite a few of our dashboard friends come from that company, actually. That's awesome!

Yes, yes, you are. Thanks for the links. I saw Elektra at the Toys R Us but didn't know who she was. At first I thought this was a requirement but when I saw the Valkyrie doll, I didn't care. I think I might get one of your suggestions!!!

And I'd be remiss if I neglected this one:

Series II, from ToyBiz, released 1998. Wide distribution, eminently findable on eBay or gofigures.com.

The Benway records store near Windward and Pacific has lots of bobbers and action figures, including the Rosie the Riveter. I also had a Miss Piggy on my artcar, next to Quan Yin.

Yeah, baby! We so need a Rosie the Riveter figure. I was also thinking about putting one of my Quan Yin's there too! We already have Buddy Jesus and a glow in the dark Mary, so there's a little bit of religion there already :)
