I went to see "Return of the King" last night for the second time. It was just as wonderful the second time around. (I understand now why my boyfriend was not hesitant at all to see it for the second time when I hadn't seen it yet.)
And I let myself get up and walk around this time so my butt wouldn't fall asleep ;)

What was great about seeing it this time with my hubby was looking over and seeing the little boy in his eyes when he first looked at Minas Tirith. He whispered to me, "In the 15 times I've read the books, that's how I pictured it to be" It was adorable really.

Today is my first day back to work, so I guess the vacation part of my break is over :( But I still have 6 days until classes start again.

J said the exact same thing. :)

And I agreed with [livejournal.com profile] xanyboi that it was even better the second time. :)

we saw it twice too. once with friends, once with steven's family. i found it more moving the second time. i got tears in my eyes several times (i have a huge identification with eowyn). we had our nephew with us, who is six, and it was just too long for him. but we had a great time discusssing the various monsties and characters with him.

Awwwww! Yeah, that was me, too. I think I had tears in my eyes, actually.... :)

I guess I have an overdeveloped sense of entitlement or something. Minas Tirith was totally how I pictured it, but it never occurred to me that it could be depicted any other way. In hindsight I recognize the genius involved in creating it on screen, but at the time I was so absorbed that it didn't have an effect. Then again, I was so absorbed that I didn't fully grasp that I was watching a movie rather than living an epic... perhaps I suspend my disbelief and sense of reality too much sometimes. W reacted with the glee everyone else seems to have had. My glee came after the movie. :)
