Pennsic was too short this year. I was there for only 6 days. The first day was spent catching up with my faraway love who was instructed by my hubby to keep me distracted while hubby finished his 1000 fight quest.
When hubby was done with 1001 fights, I got to see why he wanted me to be distracted. He was swollen everywhere and bruised a lot. I keep telling people it was like this: You remember in "The Princess Bride" at the end when Wesley was lying on the bed unable to move his limbs but could still talk? Well, my husband was lying on our Greek couch and asked if I could place his hand on his stomach for him because he couldn't possibly move it.
I am very proud of my husband and of the quest he made. I'm just really glad that I wasn't there to see it. I probably would have winced the whole time if I had been there to watch it and would have developped a twitch of some kind. I too thank
emerlion and the Shire of Coil Tuar for helping him survive the week before my arrival.
I prepared my Turkish Desserts for Wednesday night with the help of many of my friends old and new and got to see a bunch of my old friends from the East (well, most of them) even if for just a little while. Thursday and Friday were my Turkish Bath classes which took up half a day each. I even entered a subtleties contest on Thurday night with the desserts I had left over from Wednesday. Saturday it was time to break down camp and Sunday it was time to leave. What???
But wait, something completely unexpected happened at almost the very last minute. As I was walking home on Saturday night, I was stopped on my way and invited into camp by a very charming man. Who lives in Germany . No, he's not German, he's American, but he works there. We made a tentative date for 2 Pennsics from this last one because he won't be there next year. *Sigh* Never enough time at War is there?
And the adventure didn't end there. I was convinced to drive home with my husband and our friend, the King. It was not nearly as exciting of a trip as our cross-country-honeymoon from last year, but it was kinda fun in that "let's see how fast we can drive 2500 miles" sorta way.
I am home and safe and awaiting next year's Pennsic already. I'm going to plan next summer term around it and not take any classes on Mondays so I can go for a longer time. Is that awful or what?
I am definitely going to convince one friend out here that she and her hubby simply must go to Pennsic next year. I spent every day thinking about all the things I wanted to show her and all the people I wanted to introduce her to.
*sigh* For now I will enjoy my time back in the 21st century and flush toilets and take showers and use electricity lots. And I have a week and a half left of break from school to finish off my top 10 list of things to do. I have about 300 pages left in "Two Towers" so that should keep me busy for a while. ;)
