I'm not good with giving the cat medication. Even with S's help, he scratched the hell outta my hand and made me bleed. So, he gets the homeopathic stuff in a little bit of water until he drinks it all. Fine.

I hate this. I can't do this for 2 weeks and keep being in a bad mood because of it.

Wear gloves, and be glad it's not a hawk or a lion! :> Perhaps you could even just be pleased you're not trying to take a rectal temprature! :> Just dwell on how bad it could be, and then be happy it's not THAT bad. :>

Hawkgurl, don't take this the wrong way.. but you have some FUNKY hobbies.... takeing lions rectal tempratures (shudder) ;)

Yeah, it came off the right way. Perspective is a good thing. I'm gonna try wrapping him in a towel again and have S put the drops in his mouth.

The thing is, as far as I know, he's never had any medications until now. It's hard to fool an intelligent adult cat.

Hmm... things to try...

Wrap him in the towel, hold him firmly (either have S do it, or put him under your arm, or kneel holding him between your legs).

If you can hook a finger in the back corner his mouth while holding the front of his chest (either 1 hand or 2). Holding his chest will help keep him from trying to move forward more. You can then get the dropper in and aim for the back of the throat.

Think of it sort of like the trick you can do with dogs - if you roll their lip over their back teeth, they open their mouths and don't bite down on you. I'd still wear gloves if you can.

With the cat I had who needed lots of drugs in the end, I found he got wise to me. I needed to follow up with treats and lots of love to make it up to him. Be happy it's just 2 weeks... It's important that he not struggle, obviously, so the calmer and faster you can be about it the better it will be for him.
