By order of the acupuncture intern who worked on me the other day, I took a break from studying and watched a movie. I finally watched "Velvet Goldmine" because [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] talked about it so much. I really enjoyed it although it felt a little too long. When summarizing the film to
merchimerch I said it was about a fictitious love affair between David Bowie and Kurt Cobain. Really that's who Brian Slade and Curt Wild reminded me of. And gods, were they sexy.
One of the things I liked most was that all of the glamrock songs that were real from the period were just almost unrecognizable. Here I was listening to the first song of the closing credits when I realized it was a cover of Duran Duran's "Running Wild". I mean, how could I not recognize that? It was well done, all of it.
Then I watched the movie clips that came with the soundtrack to "Frida". They actually had my favorite scene!!! The tango between Salma Hayek (Frida Kahlo) and Ashley Judd (Tina Modotti) - the hottest scene in the film and now I have it to watch whenever I want! I've never had a cd that I could also watch before so I'm very tickled.
In other news, I now have an email addy at elvis.com because I need a new one where I can see photos and because I had to have an Elvis email addy. (If you have another email addy for me, use it. The elvis one is just for looking at photos). My fascination with Elvis, by the way, sprang from a fortune I got many years ago at a Chinese restaurant that said: "You will be crowned King of Rock n Roll in Memphis, Tennessee". So, you see, I'm the next Elvis.
And, in more random news, in our new apt on the ground floor, we are constantly on display. People pass by the windows in our living room and make faces or knock on the window and say hi - even if they don't know us. It makes life interesting sometimes. Kinda feels like we're on some reality show or something. As long as I remember to wear clothes in front of these windows, I'm fine. I'm an exhibitionist but only in certain circumstances. And, yeah, I know we could shut the curtains but then we wouldn't get in as much sunlight.
