Today I woke up to heat up leftovers from yesterday, brought a tray of food back to bed for S and I. And then we went back to sleep. At 4pm after the phone rang, I decided that we HAD to get up and go outside for just a little while. Went for a walk along the Venice boardwalk in a short sleeve shirt, jeans and flip flops. Ok, so I was chilly by the end of the walk.

But it's all worth it. The struggling to make ends meet is all worth it because we can walk along the beach whenever we want to. (It's going to get better too, I know it will.)

Yesterday was fantabulous. Possibly the best xmas ever. (Only 1 1/2 minutes of drama while on the phone with my father. People cancelled yesterday because of the snow and dad and E had ordered food for 40 or so people and rented a gazebo for a party. OOPS. I could tell on the phone that he was really sad about the whole thing but what can you do, really?)

So, if we HAD gone back east, we wouldn't have been able to go anywhere anyway. I did feel a little sad this morning that we weren't in Montreal even if it is snowing there too, which I'm guessing it probably is. And I miss A and D a lot.

Back to xmas yesterday: we had a bunch of friends over starting at 1:30 or so and the last person left at 3am. So much good food and leftovers and some of them even brought prezzies. I didn't ask for prezzies, but ok. I discovered that glogg + red wine is a tranquilizer. And that a conversation about the computer game "Civilization" only adds to the sleepiness. I took a nap until the next wave of friends showed up because I was the only girl in a room full of boys geeking about Civ.

One person got naked briefly and there were photos taken. He was going to dry dishes naked but put his clothes back on before he did. (We used to have this rule that when someone shows up to a potluck without food that they had to do the dishes naked. S tried to reinstate this last night).

The goose carcass is becoming soup as I write this. There are still 2 whole pies left and lots of bits of leftovers. Yum! Food for at least a week.

I think we're going to see a movie about Venice Beach tonight and then going to Jumbo's Clown Room to look at "fake boobies" as J said on the phone. She's awfully cute sometimes.

unseelie just called from boston to tell S how much he isn't missing being in boston right now. Get home safely to the land of no snow, unseelie.

emerlion, I toasted etienne's bday yesterday.

I also toasted my friend fabienne's kitty cat, onyx who was killed in a car crash in May. RIP, la belle onyx. Fabienne found me with a postcard I got a few days ago from her in Mayotte.

Our friends (and the friends they brought with them) who were here yesterday so totally rock. I woke up today to an empty sink and most of the food was put away.

merry leftovers to you all.

Damn, I miss you guys...

Hello hello from deep-freezer that is Somerville...

Sounds like a lovely Christmas day. I was over at [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen's house with many jewish and other non-xmas-celebrating people, following the ancient jewish christmas tradition of chinese food and movies.

Yeah, so it was a blizzard. Makes it feel like properly like winter in Boston..I love it! And we had thunder and lightning while it was snowing, really quite cool...

I absolutely agree that naked dishwashing should be re-instated at your house...

*tee hee*

Snow with thunder and lightning and you liked it, huh? Well, I guess that's why you are in Boston enjoying the snow and we . . . aren't. Glad you had a proper jewish xmas chez mangosteen.
