The Rya Rug is taking a hell of a lot longer than I thought it would. Hopefully I'll get a bit faster at the whole knotting process as I get used to it. I spent 5 hours on it today and had to redo the first hour's worth of knots. I don't think I will be finishing it because of the woman's budget. It would take at least 100 hours to finish the thing if I got down to doing one row in an hour.

Feh. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, a Rya Rug is a Scandinavian crack project - I mean - knotted rug technique. It's like pointilism with wool knots. When a few rows are done, you begin to see shapes emerging. I've never done anything like this before. The knots are easy but following the teeny tiny pattern blocks and numbers to go along with the colors are crazy. This rug is something like 5 feet by 7 feet and only about 30 rows were done when I got it last week. 30 rows in as many years, I think.

Anyway, I will give another stab at it tomorrow for at least a little while. Then it's on to baking madness for Wednesday. More pandoro (a wheat-free batch), fruit pies, pfefferneusse and a buche de noel.

Now it's on to snuggle madness.
