Ok, so I haven't gone back to bed yet. Been looking for flights to go back East for the holidays. I wrote to my parents and told them that we may not be able to fly if I can't find anything cheaper than what I've been finding. I WILL NOT ask them for money. I just can't bring myself to do it.

Hmm... I don't know what your time or money constraints are, but if you're flexible on dates you can sometimes get cheaper fares if you are willing to fly on the actual holiday. I also don't know if you are talking about Thanksgiving or Christmas or New Year....

USAir is selling holiday flights at the moment (I get an email with sales from them), a quick look turned up a roundtrip from LA to Boston for $322. See http://www.usairways.com/promotions/specials/holiday_sale.htm for more details.
For non holiday week travel (restricted dates) I saw as low as $258 searching on travel.yahoo.com.

I hope that helps.

thanks. I'm talking about xmas to new year's. I keep seeing deals for under $200 RT but when you plug in the dates you want, they're either unavailable or double the price. I will try US Air. Thanks for the tip.

Well, rather than asking them for money, try asking them for a teleporter, comme ici (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=cosmicserpent&itemid=131590). :)

Is this, like, the trend for the day? Did I miss the memo?

Hey, yeah, that's a great idea! So much easier on the pride to ask for a teleporter instead of money! ;)
Thanks for bringing some lightness to my heaviness. It's greatly appreciated.
