Front page in the East Bay Express! It's all about Celiac's and going gluten-free:

There's even info about a camp in Northern California for kids with Celiac's:

Also mentioned is Mariposa Bakery in Oakland. I'm going there to try the pizza on Saturday. OMG pizza!!! I can tell you already that their triple chocolate truffle brownies are divine (I got one at Rainbow Grocery last week):

Oh, hey! I didn't know that Mariposa had lots of gluten-free stuff - we've got them here, too. Thank you for the resource!

You don't need to answer this but are you suffering from Celiac's as well? That would make two people I know in that boat.

No, I have not been diagnosed with Celiac's but I have an allergic reaction to wheat, so I avoid it. Recently I've found that oats are also a problem. I *could* get tested for Celiac's but that would mean eating wheat again before getting tested (in order to show how I react to gluten) and I'm SO much better without it that I don't want to go thru that.

I actually thought of you while reading the article about Mariposa Bakery. The owner has MS and eats gluten-free.

I've been off wheat for almost a year and a half. I started making public posts about it back when it was just an "experiment" for me. Now it's a way of life.

They had samples of the mariposa biscotti out so I tried one and it was fabulous!

I'm curious... I've been reading your wheat-free posts, and have wondered if maybe I should try it myself. What led you to start the "experiment" in the first place? Like you, I don't think I have celiac disease, but I suspect I might have gluten sensitivity.

I tried my experiment first before asking a patient to try it. Avoiding wheat helped me immensely but it didn't do much for the patient. In fact, it changed my life.
