nisaa: (no wheat)

Ok, I have my Board exam in three weeks. I just called the CA Acupuncture Board to find out what the snacks are going to be since I don't eat wheat. I wanted to know if it was possible to bring my own snack if I couldn't eat the granola bars they are going to give us. The man on the other end of the phone told me I had missed the deadline to get permission to bring my own snacks. You see, we're not allowed to bring ANYTHING into the testing site that's not approved beforehand. I informed him that I had emailed the Board several weeks ago about this and got no response.

The silence on the other end of the phone was deadly. He told me to hold on. He came back and read me the ingredients list on the granola wrapper. I thanked him very much and hung up. I got the feeling because of the silence at the other end that this guy was rolling his eyes at me the whole time, as if I were wasting his time.

At the very least, I took care of myself. I don't want to be in the middle of a five hour exam and get hungry half way through it. As it is, I'm planning to have a super high protein breakfast the morning of the exam, because I know that will last longer.

oh for heaven's sake! Call him back and talk to his supervisor - you deserve to do your best on that test.

It is a licensure in TCM for frak's sake - they should understand about the need to not abuse your body when taking a test.

(and *hugs* for having to deal with stupid people on the phone)

It's ok, I can eat the granola bars they're going to give me.
Thanks for your support :)

I'm glad you can eat them. They are pretty tasty. Better than the ones you get in the grocery store.

If you are wheat free for health reasons, it seems only reasonable for them to accomodate you....

Yes, but apparently I missed a deadline for special needs. I thought that deadline was for people with disabilities, so I ignored it. Luckily, I can eat the granola bars they'll be giving me.

Do I know you?? I can't tell coz your pic is very small.

I'm new to LJ, so I'm trying to start off by befriending some Phi Taus. If you aren't a 'Tau, oops, er, sorry... :P (I'm Jed).

The LSAT people (LSAC) gave me a really hard time with my disability requests, denying them without telling me why, and saying I was free to submit more documentation but not saying what documentation they'd like to see. It was...frustrating.

I'm not a Phi Tau, but I know quite a few of them ;)
