Today we're saying goodbye to our dear, sweet and grumpy Alexander T. Cat. We're having a vet come to our house in a few hours to put him to sleep. This is one of the hardest days in my whole life. But we want to say a proper goodbye. The tumor in his mouth is growing so very fast, he can't eat much and he's in pain. And it breaks my heart every time I see his bleeding mouth.
I'll sing "You Are My Sunshine" to him a few more times.
p.s. If you feel so inclined to make a donation, please consider doing so here:

I told a dear friend of mine the other day that I didn't care what she said on the phone, she could even tell me what she had for breakfast that morning and I wouldn't care as long as I heard her voice. No one knows the right thing to say. The only right thing to say is to say something, anything, when we're hurting this much.

He was amazing. Steve asked me to email him after to ask if he would put two pennies in with Alexander's body - part of a Greek tradition. He wrote me back almost immediately. He'll drop off Xander's ashes sometime next week. He was so very kind.

(my wonderful girlfriend Cindy's cat is in nearly the identical situation. That Lucy's each day is enjoyable is all we ask for, for as long as it lasts.)
my love to you and your wonderful hubby S.
