We did not in fact go out last night at all. I don't even know if K went out with her friends to Jumbo's. It's still on my list of things to go to in LA. I plan on doing more touristy things when merchimerch gets back to town next week. Yay!
So, instead of going to see a movie about Venice last night, we stayed in and watched a movie that took place in Venice just down the street from our place. It was the first time I'd seen a movie set in our own neighborhood. But really, it wasn't all that important to the film, just made me smile. The movie was about sex and cello playing and sex and cello playing and more sex. Totally not worth seeing, so if you see a description for a movie called "The Seventh Sense" - don't waste your time renting it.
Tonight I AM getting out of the house to go see "Hedwig" at the Laemmle's Fairfax. And I know I will enjoy that because I love that film and because I know that boymaenad had something to do with the preshow. I think he wrote it. If it's anything like the preshow for "Rocky" that I saw last Saturday, I know I won't be disappointed.
I discovered today that it's almost impossible to plan anything in this city at night without a car. I had to sorta cancel my plans until S came back with the car tonight. J doesn't have a car because she was in an accident and it's wrecked. We would have had to take buses to do things and it's such a hassle.
Beautiful sunset tonight . One palm tree backlit by it called me towards it and I walked along the boardwalk to see it.
I am a good third of the way through "The Hobbit". Bilbo has found the ring and met gollum and found his friends again. It's weird that the images in my mind are so heavily influenced by the movies. I wonder what it would have been like to read the books beforehand instead. I feel rather behind the rest of the world who has read the books because of this.
