I have been an activist since college when I went to a "Take Back the Night" rally and march and realized that it had a name. When I made friends with N by crying on each other's shoulders when we figured out what "rape" and "sexual assault" meant and that it had happened to us.
Since then, I have planned and led "Take Back the Night" marches. I became a women's health activist and trained to be a rape crisis hotline counselor (luckily I never got any calls when I was working the hotline).
I'm Denise. I'm a survivor of sexual violence.
No Pity. No Shame. No Silence.
